Program Description
Games Platinum for Windows is a collection of the best games for Microsoft Windows, assembled on CD ROM under our easy-to-use Platinum Interface. Games Platinum contains 6 categories of games including: Best Games on the Disc, Action / Arcade Games, Card & Dice Games, Puzzles, Board & Strategy Games, and Other Games. You can view the programs by category, or "create" your own category by performing a keyphrase search. As you view the available programs, you are immediately provided with a concise program description, the author's name, the size of the program, and the program type (Shareware, Freeware, or Public-Domain). Unlike other shareware installers, Games Platinum is Windows-based, and allows you to run ALL of the games directly from the disc -- BEFORE you install them! You can even view the author's own documentation, and get the facts straight from the source.
Program Installation
To install Games Platinum, follow these steps:
1. Check to insure that 'SHARE.EXE' is loaded. (Check your DOS manual for more information.)
2. Start Microsoft Windows.
3. Put the Games Platinum CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive.
4. From the Windows Program Manager, choose "File", "Run..."
5. Type "d:\install.exe", where 'd' is the letter of your CD-ROM drive.
6. Click OK or press <Enter>
After a few seconds, Games Platinum should begin running.
Troubleshooting the Installation
If you get a file or drive error, please check to see that you entered the correct drive letter in step 5 (above), that your CD-ROM and caddy are properly inserted, and that the CD-ROM drive is powered on.
Games Platinum may give you a warning that SHARE.EXE is not loaded. Share is required for Games Platinum to open its Microsoft Access databases. If you get this error, you may choose for Games Platinum to add share to your autoexec.bat file, or you may exit windows and start share manually. If you are starting Microsoft Windows from your AUTOEXEC.BAT file, please make certain that SHARE.EXE is loaded before Windows.
A sample AUTOEXEC.BAT file might look like this:

Many windows shell programs; such as Dashboard, Norton Desktop, or Central Point Utilities, are not 100% Program Manager compatible and may interfere with the installation of Games Platinum. If you are using one of these windows shell progams, you should launch the program manager and use the File, Run... menu to perform the installation. Once the installation is complete, you may then run Games Platinum from the Platinum Shareware program group, or create your own Games Platinum icons in your favorite shell program.
Running Games Platinum
The first time Games Platinum runs, it automatically creates a Program Manager group and icon to make finding and running Games Platinum easier. If you have installed Games Platinum or other Platinum Shareware Series products previously, you will find a Program Manager group called "Platinum Shareware" and icon named "Games Platinum". Simply run this program as your would any other Windows application.
As with all other CD-ROM-based products, you must have the CD-ROM inserted when you run Games Platinum. If you have multiple CD-ROM drives, please make certain to use the same drive each time. Please do not remove the CD-ROM while Games Platinum is running, or the program will be unable to access necessary data, and may fail to work properly.
Using Games Platinum for Windows
Games Platinum is very easy to use... simply click on a button which represents the category of shareware you wish to view. You may then select an individual program to: Launch, View the program's documentation, or Install on your hard drive. You may also search for your favorite programs by clicking the search button and specifying a keyword or phrase. These selections then appear in the program list box.
If you choose to install a program, you must specify the destination drive and path. All of the necessary programs will be copied to this destination and the icon associated with this program will automatically appear in the Platinum Shareware Program Manager group.
Running Programs from the disc
When running programs from the CD ROM disc, certain programs may not work properly. Because CD ROM is a read-only media, programs cannot create temporary files and therefore may not function properly. This problem may be solved very easily by installing the program onto your hard disk.
Also on this Disc...
Zipped Files for BBS use
This disc also contains a subdirectory called 'zipped'. In it you will find a copy of all the programs on this disc in PK-Zip version 1.1 format. Each category of files also contains a text file containing the name, size, author, program type, and brief description of each program. This section of the disc may prove useful for mounting or copying to bulletin board systems.
Visual Basic Runtime DLL's
All of the Visual Basic programs require the VBRUNXXX.DLL to execute at runtime; but this program is often eliminated from the distribution file set to save on space. We have included a copy of VBRUN100.DLL, VBRUN200.DLL, and VBRUN300.DLL in a subdirectory called VBRUN on the Games Platinum disc. If you encounter a Visual Basic program which gives an error message "Cannot locate VBRUNXXX.DLL", then copy the appropriate Visual Basic DLL to the programs subdirectory; this should correct the problem.
This disc was scanned with McAfee Scan and was found free from viruses.

You can even add your own media clips to our database for access under the Platinum Interface. A must-have for any serious windows user or programmer.
Publisher Platinum
A huge collection of clip art and fonts. Publisher Platinum offers tons of clean, good-looking clip art in both color and black and white. Locating the clip art you need is very easy... choose a predefined clip art category or search on keywords. Once you find the right area, preview a thumbnail of each file for the exact piece you need. You'll also get 100's of Fonts for use in Adobe Type Manager or Windows True Type.
